The philosophy at Spokane Gymnastics is to offer an exceptional experience for every child; from preschoolers learning the fundamentals, to “playground heroes” showing off cartwheels at recess, to high-level competitive gymnasts. With that goal in mind we are excited to once again offer a program that allows instructional gymnasts the opportunity to experience competitive gymnastics and be a part of a team.
Gymnasts enrolled in an artistic gymnastics level 2 class or higher are eligible to participate.
Each Winter, Spokane Gymnastics offers three in-house meets where gymnasts learn routines and perform on all Olympic events: Vault, Uneven Bars, Balance Beam and Floor Exercise. Athletes are assigned to a team but perform their routines individually, receiving a score for each event and the total of those scores compile the entire team’s overall score. In addition, each gymnast receives their individual scores on each event, as well as their All Around score, along with ribbons. Since the main focus is the teams competing as a group, this helps remove most of the jitters and creates an encouraging environment for all who participate, and promotes teamwork and sportsmanship.
Gymnasts who take part in Gymnastics League will learn the basic skills within their routines during regular classes plus we offer optional (but highly recommended) weekly practices coached by a rotation of Spokane Gymnastics intermediate and team-level instructors to learn and practice the full routines.
