Sandy Jones
Sandy is from Spokane, WA and graduated from Whitworth University with degrees in Biology and Theology. Growing up, she competed in gymnastics up to Level 6, then did rec-op and high school gymnastics for 4 years. Beam and Floor were her favorite events. Sandy has worked with children ever since she was old enough to start babysitting. She loves how children teach adults, how they keep adults young at heart, and how they show adults how to live life to the fullest in a pure and unadulterated way. Sandy has been coaching at Spokane Gymnastics since 2023 and enjoys working with all ages, but especially school age. Her favorite event to coach is Floor, with Beam being a close second. Sandy describes her coaching style as constantly evolving. She never wants to establish one teaching style and stick to it. All children learn in different ways, and a good teacher will constantly be looking for ways to help each child grow and understand. Sandy believes this is done best by adapting to teaching styles for each child individually. She also says that a good teacher is constantly learning. Sandy says what drives her exciting and encouraging teaching is her love for working with kids and the joy and energy they bring, especially the atmosphere, and ensuring he team treats each other with nothing but respect, love, and encouragement.
Outside of Spokane Gymnastics, Sandy loves being outside, being a mom, experiencing life with her family, getting to know people beyond the surface, and encouraging and leading children and youth. A fun fact about Sandy is that she loves to organize and clean other people’s things!
