Parkour

Starting in Winter 2026/2027, all Spokane Gymnastics Parkour athletes will transition into our Ninja program.

We understand that athletes in Levels 2 and higher with Parkour have put in real work to advance and that progress will not be wasted. Moving into Ninja means they’ll keep training and building on the skills they already have, just within a program with more opportunities. This includes participating in events like our Ninja Mission ceremonies and the annual Ninja Games.

Leading this transition is Coach Josh, our Ninja Department Leader! Josh moved from Southern California to help us grow and improve our Ninja program, and he’s playing a key role in bringing Parkour and Ninja together. He’s been training Parkour since 2005 and teaching it since 2006, on top of years of gymnastics coaching experience so your athlete is in great hands. Josh’s coaching style is firm but fair, and he believes kids should have as much fun as possible while following the rules along the way.

Our Curriculum

We use a progressive parkour curriculum that guides athletes from beginner to advanced levels. Each level incorporates key parkour components including:

  • Speed: Moving through courses as quickly and efficiently as possible
  • Skill: Mastering technique-based challenges
  • Style: Adding personal flair and creativity

With a strong emphasis on safety and falling drills, students build a solid foundation while progressing toward more complex movements.

What Will Kids Learn?

In parkour classes at Spokane Gymnastics, students will develop:

  • Agility and Balance
  • Mental Focus and Bravery
  • Sportsmanship and Teamwork
  • Proper Falling Techniques
  • Strength and Flexibility

Each class includes purposeful warm-ups, technique training, and progressions — all led by passionate, experienced coaches.
