Welcome to team! We look forward to welcoming your gymnast to our competitive program! After reading the following information, please reach out if you have any questions. The phone number is 509-533-9646. Our service desk staff, or Sam, our Team General Manager, typically will be available to assist.

Gymnasts (and spectators) should not be out on the floor or equipment outside of structured training under the supervision of their coach.
At Spokane Gymnastics, we have a pre-planned lesson for each practice and start training on time. Due to insurance requirements and the need to have all gymnasts properly warm-up and be both mentally and physically prepared for activity, only children who arrive on time for training will be allowed to participate. If you have a schedule conflict or you are running late, but are on your way, please call 509-533-9646 so we can discuss the best options to safely accommodate your child. Lesson plans are organized from start to finish, and it is important that gymnasts attend full training as much as possible. We do have many make-up options available.

Gymnasts use their own chalk for the Bars. All chalk should be kept in a sealable container. Blocks of chalk are available for purchase at the service desk. If needed, gymnasts may also bring their own supply of athletic tape.

Gymnasts may have or need grips for the bars. If so, we recommend having two pairs of grips that are broken in. Grips do wear out and typically will fail towards the end of a gymnastics season. For the Xcel program, girls typically start wearing grips at the Silver level, but the timing depends on personal preference and need. It is not time-sensitive for gymnasts who are new to team to get grips right away, but if you would like to purchase grips – please see the “Team Resources” section at the bottom of the page.

Please have your child pack a large water bottle each day. We do have filtered water available at the refill station.
Gymnasts are always welcome to take a break as needed, and we encourage constant and open communication between the gymnasts, coaches, and parents. If your child needs any special accommodation at any time, please communicate in advance of practice directly with your coach.

Parents are invited to stay and watch any or all activities from the viewing areas or may drop children off. For the first several days especially, please come inside with your child when dropping off. At pick-up, please come inside or wait directly outside the exit door to be reunited with your gymnast.

Please have your child eat nutritious food before practice. Gymnasts tend to burn a lot of energy, so also pack plenty of snacks. We take a quick snack break mid-way through training each day. Please provide food that does not contain nut products. We have many students in our program who have SEVERE and LIFE-THREATENING allergies. Gymnasts have access to our refrigerator and microwave.

We also have snacks, water, and sports drinks available for purchase at the service desk. Payment accepted is cash, check, and (minimum of $5 purchase, plus tax) Visa or Mastercard. You may also pre-purchase a “snack tracker” for your child. The log is kept at the service desk, and they can make purchases at will. If you have any restrictions or would like to authorize your card on file to be charged at specific increments when the snack tracker is low on funds, please communicate to the service desk staff, and they will accommodate you.

Gymnasts should wear comfortable clothes, similar to what children would wear to PE classes. For girls, the best attire from the standpoint of instruction is a leotard. Fitted “bike shorts” are acceptable, as well as athletic pants. Please no bare midriff; if sports bras and shorts are preferred by the student, then a fitted tank top or t-shirt must be worn as well. Please have your child remove all jewelry (besides stud earrings) before all activity, and if her hair is shoulder length or longer, please have it tied back. Gymnasts in artistic gymnastics go barefoot.

If you ever need to confirm what your child is registered for, you may log into your account: Access your account. Your primary email address is your login, and if needed, you may reset your password.

Please bookmark this website 2026 Team website and refer to it often; it is the one place where we will link all other pages and updates.
As always, if you have any questions or if there is anything we may do to assist, please reach out. Thank you!

Please register at least 48 hours in advance!

All team members may attend make-ups in the Saturday Open Gym, or Saturday Afternoon Gymnastics Camp (recommended for up to age 12)!

Year-round make-ups

Secret Siblings will kick off in November and will go for the entire season! Deadline is Friday, October 24th!

How it works:
The coaches choose strategically and assist each team member to another. (We have information saved as to which gymnast has who, and also the answers to the “intel-questions”)

The purpose is to infuse fun and bonding into training for all of Fall, Winter, and Spring. The goal is to keep it secret for the entire season, the reveal at the end-of-season parties.

Each participating gymnast should plan to give something to their secret sibling each month, November – May. Giving does not need to be associated with meets or involve big or elaborate gifts—small notes of encouragement, and the more random, the better. Items (addressed to the recipient) can be dropped off at the service desk or discretely to the coach, and we will ensure they get them without revealing the giver’s identity. Random, fun surprises are the intention of this program.
For gifts to be delivered at meets, please drop them off at the Pines service desk by the Wednesday before.
Be sure that all gifts are clearly labeled on the outside with the recipient’s name and team.
Not all gymnasts will attend all meets. If you have any questions, please inquire.

Kicking off in November and will continue for the entire season

How it works:

Strategically planned (by the coaches) partnerships where one gymnast from one team connects each week with a gymnast from another team. Unlike “Secret Sisters,” with Bigs and Littles, everyone involved knows who they are connected with (not secret at any point), gymnasts from a separate team.

The purpose of Big Sister Little Sister is friendship, support, mentorship, and the opportunity to be or have a role model. One gymnast will be a bit younger, the “Lil Sister,” while the other older gymnast will be the “Big Sister.”

Once kicked off, the connections will be incorporated into practice each month and include 10-15 minutes for the Big Sisters and Little Sisters to connect, get to know each other, share their goals and experiences, and occasionally complete a challenge together.

This partnership will remain consistent through at least May, but as relationships naturally form, it can continue indefinitely.

Grips take a long time to break in. Swinging from the bar and time is the best way to accomplish this, long before using them for skills or routines. It is highly recommended to have two sets that are broken in. If one set fails, it is ideal to have another set which can be used immediately.

Be sure to also buy (or have) wrist bands.

Please WAIT to order grips until your coach recommends it. If you have any questions, please reach out.

Experienced team parents have shared that they found it beneficial to have a spare set of tiger paws, wrist bands, etc, and to be sure to wash them regularly 🙂

Another pro-tip? Always have an extra leotard or athletic clothes packed in your gymnast’s gym bag.
